Feminist Research Group
The Feminist Research Group supports the research of Rice faculty affiliated with the Center. Twice a year, a faculty member invites an external commentator of their choice, circulates the text of a work-in-progress for others to read in advance, and then meets with the commentator and faculty colleagues in CSWGS at an internal workshop. The Feminist Research Group has played an important role in advancing many faculty members’ publications.
The Feminist Research Group is older than CSWGS itself. It originated in 1987 as the Feminist Reading Group under the auspices of the then-Center for the Study of Cultures (now the Humanities Research Center).
