Susan C. Lavington

Susan Lavington brings over 25 years of marketing experience and strategic leadership to her service on the CSWGS Advisory Board.  Professionally, she is Chief Operating Office for Brady, and oversees the finance, human resources, communications, and organizing departments, with a focus on implementing Brady’s strategic plan and leading Brady’s transformative culture change initiatives, especially in the marketing and corporate spaces.

Susan has relied upon her extensive background as a Chief Marketing Officer to grow Brady’s partnerships with national and global advertising agencies, helping create bold multimedia projects that have won Cannes Lions, Shortys for Good, MarCom Awards, and more. In 2023, Susan presented Brady’s marketing and culture change work at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. She has also presented at Brandweek and SXSW.

Susan received her B.A. from Rice University with a double major in Economics and English and an M.B.A. from Georgetown University. Her marketing career started when she launched the first online booking engine for US Airways. She then led the marketing effort that built usatoday.com into one of the top national news websites and was promoted to the first SVP of marketing for USA TODAY. She later served as Vice President of Marketing at Sterling Publishing, Interim Chief Marketing Officer at George Washington University’s College of Professional Studies, and as the first Chief Marketing Officer for Carr Workplaces.

Today, she lives in Alexandria, Virginia, with her husband, and four children.
