Susan Lurie

Professor Lurie is the former director of the Center for the Study of Women, Gender, and Sexuality and the author of Unsettled Subjects: Restoring Feminist Politics to Poststructuralist Critique (Duke University Press, 1997). She has published articles on U.S. literature and culture, feminist theory, film theory, photography, contemporary culture, and political theory. Her current book project, 9/11 Cultures and the Problem of Dissent, explores the contributions of novels, visual and print cultures, and literary, critical, and political theory to illuminating problems of dissent in the long aftermath of the 9/11 attacks. She teaches courses in 20th century and contemporary U..S. literature and cultural studies; literary, critical, and political theory; feminist, gender, and sexuality studies; and race and ethnicity studies.
