CSWGS is delighted to confer the 2023 Merfish Award on PJHC minor Kayla Hurley '23.  Multiple nominations praised her sustained commitment to social justice, highlighting her efforts toward racial equality.  From her services on the Rice University Diversity Council to her involvement as BLM (Black Lives Matter) and AAPI (Asian American and Pacific Islander) Wikipedia Edit-a-Thon Coordinator in 2020 and 2021, her efforts have improved diversity, equity, and inclusion both on campus and off.
