Karen Ostrum George '77

Karen Ostrum George received her BA from Rice University in 1977 and a Master of Accounting from the Jones Graduate School of Business at Rice in 1978.  She is a Certified Public Accountant and has been an Associate with Ralph S. O’Connor & Associates since 1987.  At Rice University, Karen is a Trustee Emerita and has been active in many areas of the university including being a member of the Advisory Board of the Center for the Study of Women, Gender and Sexuality.  In the community, Karen is especially interested in organizations that empower women and their families.  She is the current Board President of The Women’s Home, on the Advisory Board of the Women’s Resource of Greater Houston and is past Chair of the Board of Directors of Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast. She also serves on the Wiki Education Foundation and the HSPVA Friends boards of directors. Karen is married to attorney Larry George and they have two daughters, Camille and Meredith.
