Kathleen Beckingham

Kathleen Beckingham studies the Drosophila tracheal system as a model for understanding the development of tubular organs such as the lungs and circulatory system of mammals. Currently she and her team are pursuing the role of the transcription factor gene jim lovell in the growth and morphogenesis of this system. In collaborative studies they are also designing immunoprobes that harness the unique infrared fluorescence properties of single walled carbon nanotubes.
